VARGHESE MEMORIAL INTER-INSTITUTIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT – 2025

Varghese Memorial Inter-Institutional Volleyball Tournament 2025, featuring spirited competition among women’s teams from various institutions. This annual event continues to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and inter-institutional camaraderie.
A total of seven women’s teams participated in the tournament, each showcasing impressive skill and determination on the court. After a series of exciting and hard-fought matches, Southfield College, Darjeeling emerged as the champions for the second consecutive year, cementing their status as a dominant force in women’s volleyball in the region.
The tournament celebrated not just athletic excellence, but also the enduring spirit of friendly competition, honoring the spirit of sport through unity.
Southfield College was founded as Loreto College, in Darjeeling in August, 1961 as a women’s college. At the request of the Government of West Bengal, the Irish Branch of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Darjeeling Loreto Educational Society agreed to take care of its management. However, due to the lack of personnel the Loreto nuns were compelled to hand over the college to the Government of West Bengal, hence to be run as Southfield College.
