MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN SOUTHFIELD COLLEGE DARJEELING AND SOUTH EASTERN UNIVERSITY OF SRI LANKA

A HISTORIC EVENT OF SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WAS CARRIED OUT BETWEEN SOUTHFIELD COLLEGE DARJEELING AND SOUTH EASTERN UNIVERSITY OF SRI LANKA

In the event of a collaborative Two Day Multidisciplinary International Conference held inSouth Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL), hosted by South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, University of Agricultural Sciences, Karnataka and Southfield College Darjeeling theofficial signing of MOU between Southfield College Darjeeling and South Eastern University of Sri Lanka took place on 20.05.2025.

The agreement was to collaborate in the field of research and development; collaborate in organising International conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia, etc, faculty exchange and student exchange programmes. The International Conference started with the National Anthem of Sri Lanka. The welcome speech was delivered by the Secretary of the Conference, Dr. M. Rizwan. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr Benet Rajadurai, the Conference Secretariat, India. Dr. Anuradha Rai, Principal, Southfield College Darjeeling, delivered the Presidential address, followed by a speech from the Vice Chancellor and Dean of SEUSL and a keynote address was delivered by Prof Emmanuel Kreike from Princeton University, USA. Mr. Benoy Pradhan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Southfield College, chaired a session.

The event highlighted the importance of connecting Multidisciplinary education and research efforts with the capacity to address global challenges from several prominent universities in Sri Lanka, including the University of Colombo, the University of Kelaniya, the University of Peradeniya and the University of the East. In addition, various international education experts and research groups from India, Iran, Pakistan and the United States participated. More than 110 abstracts were submitted for the conference. These cover a wide range of fields such as social science, technology, economics, education and human resource development.

Dear Esteemed Colleagues and Friends,

It is with immense pleasure and profound gratitude that we reflect on the recently concluded multi-disciplinary conference. We extend our sincerest thanks for your invaluable presence and active participation during your visit to Sri Lanka. The collaborative spirit demonstrated by such distinguished academics from India and across the globe was truly exceptional, and your insightful contributions significantly enriched our collective learning experience.

We were especially honored to host Professor Emmanuel Kreike from Princeton University, USA, who delivered a truly captivating and relevant keynote address. His profound insights resonated deeply with the conference theme and left a lasting impression on all our hybrid participants.

A particular highlight was Madam President’s address, a truly profound contribution that elevated the discourse and left a lasting impact on all attendees. Her words were an inspiration and a testament to the depth of expertise present at this event.

We are also delighted to express our profound gratitude to our two esteemed academic partners: the University of Agricultural Sciences, Karnataka, and Southfield College, Darjeeling. Their unwavering support was instrumental in the success of this conference.

Finally, our heartfelt thanks go out to all delegates from India, the US, and every corner of the world. Your presence and engagement were vital to the vibrant exchange of ideas that characterized this event.

The organizing committees of SEUSL and India truly did a tremendous job in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of this conference. This experience has been a powerful reminder that teamwork and collaboration are the bedrock of success in all endeavors.
We eagerly anticipate continuing our collaboration and look forward to the opportunity of reuniting in another academic forum in the near future.
