Southfield College NSS unit I and II conducted an educational kit distribution program at Lower Aloobari Primary School.
The volunteers interacted with the children, emphasizing the importance of education, and how these materials would help them in their studies. Our volunteers also emphasised the importance of service to everyone and how each individuals contribution is important to uplift the society. The kits were then distributed to each student, bringing smiles and excitement to their faces.
The school authorities expressed their gratitude for the support, highlighting how such initiatives positively impact the students’ motivation and learning experience.
Southfield College was founded as Loreto College, in Darjeeling in August, 1961 as a women’s college. At the request of the Government of West Bengal, the Irish Branch of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Darjeeling Loreto Educational Society agreed to take care of its management. However, due to the lack of personnel the Loreto nuns were compelled to hand over the college to the Government of West Bengal, hence to be run as Southfield College.
