Off-line Event on International Faculty Development Programme (FDP)

15 days workshop at Southfield College
Live session of Research Method – Qualitative Approach under the 15-day International Faculty Development Program (FDP) successfully completed on 25th April 2025. The inaugural session of the event was held at Southfield College in Darjeeling on 16th April. This prestigious event was jointly organized by the Chemical Department of Southfield College and Standard College of Manipur under Darjeeling District of West Bengal.
The program was started at 9:30 am with the reception of Southfield College’s English Department Head and FDP Coordinator Mr. Binay Pradhan. He emphasized that qualitative research plays an important role in contemporary educational and professional context.
Then Dr. Principal and FDP chief patron of Southfield College. Anuradha Rai gave the inaugural statement. He shed light on the need and impact of interdisciplinary research and faculty development.
Dr. Geography Department Head of Southfield College Sujata Baraili presented detailed information on the objective and format of International FDP. He put a special emphasis on empowering educators and researchers to gain efficiency in qualitative research methods.
First session titled “Effective Structure of Research Articles” Mr. Bennett Rajadurai. Presented by J, introduced by Professor Dnyashree Pradhan of Political Science Department. Mr. Rajadurai’s session was very engaging and presented practical ways to make research articles published.
The second session was conducted titled “How to Solve Copy Problems”, for which Dr. Gajala Faridi, Assistant Professor of the Department of Political Science and Coordinator of Research and Development Committee, introduced the resource person Mr. Dhivagar. He briefed about educational honesty, literary theft and investigation tools, and measures to maintain immacity in writing.
After enjoying lunch at the program, the session was held on the topic “writing proposal to get financial support”. It encouraged faculty members in a way to gather financial resources for research projects.
Interactive session was held at the end of the program where participants got questions answered while interacting directly with the resource person. The response session then concluded, where the participants expressed their satisfaction and gratitude towards the sessions.
Official closing of the program, APDP’s Organizing Secretary and Professor of Sociology Department Mr. Brianson S. Done with Thanksgiving by Lepcha. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the organizers, participants, and resource persons for making the event a success.
The group photo was followed by this captured that reflected the spirit of participation and cooperation. Certificates were distributed to the participants and concluded in a fun atmosphere at the program with tea-drinks.
