Section 1: Borrower Responsibilities and Account Management
  1. All registered users shall bear full responsibility for materials borrowed under their account, including but not limited to:
    • Timely return of borrowed items.
    • Maintenance of materials in their original condition.
    • Immediate reporting of lost or stolen items.
  2. Library accounts are non-transferable. Users must present their institutional ID for all transactions.

  1. Loan Entitlements:
    a) Undergraduate Students:
    • Simultaneous Checkouts: 4 books.
    • Loan Period: 7 days (eligible for renewal).
    b) Postgraduate Students:
    • Simultaneous Checkouts: 4 books.
    • Loan Period: 7 days (non-renewable for extended loans).
    c) Faculty (Teaching / Non- Teaching) members:
    • Teaching – 10 concurrent loans, renewable upon request.
    • Non- Teaching- 5 concurrent loans, renewable upon request.
  2. Loan Periods:
    • Standard circulation (PG/UG): 7 calendar days.
    • Extended loans (PG/UG): 7 calendar days.
    • Standard circulation (Faculty): 60 calendar days.
    • Extended loans (Faculty): 30 calendar days.
    • Periodicals: Overnight reference only.

  1. Overdue Materials:
    • Days 1-7: No penalty (grace period).
    • Day 7+: ₹5 per item per calendar day.
  2. Damage Assessment:
    • Minor damage (repairable): ₹50-200.
    • Major damage (irreparable): Replacement cost + processing fee (₹200).
    • Lost items: Current market value + processing fee (₹200).

  1. Service Hours:
    • Regular semester: Monday-Saturday, 09:00-15:30 Hours.
    • Vacation periods: Monday-Friday, 10:00-14:00 Hours.
    • Closed on institutional holidays.

Section 5: Special Circumstances

  1. Holiday Adjustments:
    • Due dates falling on holidays automatically extend to next working day. • No fines accumulate during official institutional closures.
  2. Examination Period:
    • All loans must be cleared 7 calendar days prior to examination commencement.
    • Non-compliance results in examination hold on student account.

  1. Prohibited Actions:
    • Defacement or marking of library materials.
    • Removal of security features.
    • Unauthorized removal of any library property.
  2. Digital Resources:
    • Workstation use limited to academic purposes.
    • Downloading/printing subject to copyright restrictions.

  1. Expected Behaviour:
    • Maintenance of silent study environment
    • Proper use of furniture and equipment
    • Respect for other users’ rights.
  2. Violation Protocol:
    • Verbal warning.
    • Written notice to department head.
    • Temporary suspension of privileges (7-30 days).
    • Permanent revocation for repeated offenses.

  1. Users may contest penalties by:
    • Submitting written appeal within 3 working days.
    • Appearing before Library Committee if requested.
    • Accepting final decision as binding.

Compliance with these regulations ensures equitable access to resources and maintains an optimal learning environment. The library reserves the right to modify policies with prior notice to serve evolving academic needs.
