Aim

The Southfield College Library aims to serve as the intellectual hub of the institution, fostering academic excellence by providing equitable access to knowledge resources, innovative services, and a conducive learning environment that supports the holistic development of its users.

Vision

Mission
  1. To curate and provide access to a diverse collection of print and digital resources that cater to the curricular, research, and lifelong learning needs of the academic community.
  2. To promote information literacy and critical thinking through user-centric services, workshops, and guidance.
  3. To uphold the college’s legacy of inclusivity by ensuring accessible facilities for differently-abled users.
  4. To collaborate with faculty and students in fostering a culture of academic inquiry and innovation.
Objectives
  1. Resource Development: Continuously expand and update collections to support evolving academic programs.
  2. Digital Integration: Enhance access to e-resources, including INFLIBNET-N-LIST, remote access, and online databases.
  3. User Support: Provide reference, reprography, career guidance (EIS), and research assistance services.
  4. Inclusivity: Offer specialized resources (e.g., sign language books, talk books, ramps) for differently-abled users.
  5. Skill Development: Conduct orientation programs, library internships, and ICT training for students and researchers.

  1. The library is staffed by qualified professionals, including:

    • Librarian (overseeing operations and resource management)
    • Assistant Librarians (reference and digital services)
    • Support Staff (circulation, reprography, and maintenance)
    • ICT Specialists (managing e-resources and remote access)

  1. Open Access Stack: Self-service access to books and periodicals.
  2. Reference & Information Services: Personalized assistance for academic and research queries.
  3. Reprography: Photocopying at subsidized rates (50% of market price).
  4. Digital Services:

    • Career counseling (Entry Into Services – EIS)
    • User orientation programs
  6. Current Awareness:
    • Daily newspapers and e-newspaper subscriptions
  7. Special Services for Differently-Abled Users:
    • Sign language resources for the hearing impaired
    • Audio (talk) books for the visually impaired
    • Wheelchair-accessible ramps
  8. Library Internship: Hands-on training for students.
