Priyankit Lepcha was able to win this award among three selected students for the year 2024-2025 Today in the grand farewell program held in the college\, the mentioned prize was awarded from the college principal Dr. Anuradha Rai. Certificate\, souvenir and cash amount were awarded in the prize.\nIt is reminded that former Chief Minister of Sikkim State Dr. Pawan Chamling came to attend a program at Southfield College in 2008. At that time\, he had given a handful of zodiac sign to college students. One student of the year is awarded with the same zodiac sign. The college’s best department award was also awarded in this program. Geography department who performed best throughout the year was awarded the said award. Prof. Sadip Pradhan gave his late father late B. What. Was provided in the name of the Pradhan.

DESCRIPTION:Farewell program Graduation Batch 6th semester session 2022-2025. \n\nThe program was followed by\n\n\nThe Dr. Pawan Chamling Academic Award\, presented by Southfield College\, Darjeeling\, was presented to Ms Priyankit Lepcha\, a student of the Department of Political Science of the college. The Pawan Chamling Award is presented annually based on excellent marks and participation in other academic activities. Priyankit Lepcha was able to win this award among the three selected outstanding students for the year 2024-2025. The award was presented by the Principal of the college\, Dr. Anuradha Rai\, at a grand farewell program held at the college today. The award consisted of a certificate\, a memento and a cash amount.\n\n\nIt is recalled that the former Chief Minister of Sikkim State\, Dr. Pawan Chamling\, visited to attend a program at Southfield College in 2008. During that time\, he had given a sum of money to the students of the college. From that amount\, the Best Student of the Year award is given to one student every year.\n\n\nThe felicitation of vollyball team of the College\nOn their victory on Intercollege Volleyball Tournament organised by Darjeeling Government College. 15.05.2025\nWinners Southfield College Darjeeling.\n\n\nThe felicitation of Debate participants for their victory on debate competition organised by AIGSF central wings on 20th August 2024\n\n\nThe felicitation of Taekwonodo Team\n\n\nAt the same program\, the Best Department Award of the college was also given to the Geography Department for its excellent performance throughout the year. DESCRIPTION:Inaugural Session of Add-on Course on “Indian Knowledge System” and a special on Indian Knowledge System by Prof. Swathasidda Sarkar\, Professor Centre for Himalayan Studies Organised by the Department of Political Science and Department of Hindi in collaboration with IQAC and RDC\, Southfield College \nDate: 15/05/2024 \n  \nThe Department of Political Science and the Department of Hindi\, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research Development Cell (RDC) of Southfield College\, organised the inaugural session of the Add-on Course on “Indian Knowledge System” on 15th May 2024. The event featured a special lecture by Professor Swathasidda Sarkar\, from the Centre for Himalayan Studies\, University of North Bengal\, focusing on Indian Knowledge System and the Himalaya. The session aimed to explore the intrinsic connections between India’s indigenous knowledge systems and the Himalayan region. \n  \nThe program commenced with a warm welcome and the ceremonial offering of Khadas to the guests by the Principal\, Dr. Anuradha Rai\, along with Dr. Ratna Kumari Mishra. Ms. Prava Lohar\, Head of the Department of Political Science\, then introduced the course\, highlighting its objectives and relevance in contemporary academic discourse. \n  \nThe Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Mahesh Pradhan\, \, Associate Professor\, Department of Nepali\, who shared his insights into Himalayan literature and culture\, thereby setting a thoughtful tone for the event. \nThe highlight of the program was the lecture by Professor Swathasidda  Sarkar\, who delivered a profound and thought-provoking exploration of the Indian Knowledge System\, with a special focus on the Himalaya. He emphasised the importance of viewing the Himalaya not merely as a geographical entity\, but as a dynamic intellectual and cultural space deeply rooted in Indian knowledge traditions. Drawing upon his extensive research\, Professor Sarkar underscored the need to rethink and reengage with the Himalayan region through the lens of indigenous epistemologies. \nThe event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Ratna Kumari Mishra\, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished speaker\, faculty members\, students\, and all present for making the session a meaningful and enriching experience. \n

Students found the special lecture as a useful one provided to them at the right time. Students also interacted with the speaker posting many queries.
